We believe in creating a safe and respectful environment for all participants involved in our tutoring business.
Parents play a formative role in developing their child's sense of justice, equity, and the dignity and worth of all members of our learning community. They also act as one of a child's most influential role models. Therefore, the onus for promoting and upholding the core values of our learning community must fall on all those with the greatest capacity to reason and control their actions. It is a clear expectation of the community that all parents model acceptable behaviour at all times within the learning settings of Intuition Educational Support. This policy aims to remind all parents and visitors to our learning centre or online learning about expected conduct so that we can work together to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for our students.
We acknowledge that every child is unique, and their behaviour may vary in different settings, including during tutoring sessions. Children may exhibit different attitudes, emotions, or reactions outside their familiar home environment. Parents or guardians must recognise and understand that these differences are natural and not necessarily indicative of a problem or misconduct. Our tutoring business values children's diverse personalities and learning styles, and we encourage parents to approach any concerns or observations with an open mind and constructive dialogue. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can create a supportive and nurturing environment that enables each child to thrive academically and personally.
It is crucial to recognise that a child's perception of the world and understanding of situations may differ significantly from that of adults. Children are developing their cognitive, emotional, and social skills, which affects their interpretation of events and interactions. As parents or guardians, it is essential to approach communication and conflict resolution with empathy and patience, considering your child's developmental stage. Consider their limited life experience and evolving perspectives can help foster understanding and effective communication. By acknowledging these differences in perception, we can work together to bridge any gaps, provide appropriate guidance, and ensure a supportive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each child.
As a parent or guardian, it is vital to support our tutoring centre's mission statement and values. By aligning with these principles, we can achieve the best outcomes for your child's education. This includes promoting a positive and collaborative learning environment, respecting the expertise and guidance of tutors, and actively engaging in the educational process.
Treat all members of our tutoring community, including tutors, staff, and other parents, with respect and dignity. This applies to both in-person interactions and communication through any digital channels. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and understanding, we create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and heard.
Parents are encouraged to place their trust in the expertise of the tutors and the instructional methods employed by our tutoring centre. Micromanaging or pressuring tutors to follow specific approaches should be avoided. If concerns or questions arise, it is best to address them through open, respectful discussion without interfering with the tutoring process.
Promote responsible and appropriate use of technology and social media with your child. Teach them about digital citizenship, online etiquette, privacy, and security. Encourage critical thinking and media literacy skills to navigate the online world effectively. By using technology responsibly, we ensure a safe and constructive digital environment for all participants.
Parents/Caregivers should:
Parents are kindly reminded to fulfil their financial obligations to our tutoring centre in a timely manner, as agreed upon. If any concerns arise regarding payment or financial matters, it is best to address them directly with the centre’s administration, ensuring that communication remains professional and respectful.
Parents should ensure that their child brings all the required study materials, assignments, textbooks, and any other resources the tutor recommends. By doing so, parents contribute to creating an optimal learning environment during tutoring sessions, maximising their child’s educational experience.
Parents are kindly requested to notify the tutoring centre promptly if their child cannot attend a scheduled session due to illness or any other valid reason. Respecting the centre’s cancellation policy and informing them of planned absences enables efficient scheduling and optimal resource utilisation. Parents must only contact the administrative staff to reschedule appointments. DO NOT try to organise with the tutor directly.
The tutoring centre highly values feedback and suggestions from parents, as they contribute to the continuous improvement of services. Constructive input is welcomed and appreciated, as it helps the centre enhance the overall tutoring experience for all students.
Parents should recognise and fulfil their responsibilities in supporting their child’s learning journey. This includes creating a conducive study environment at home, ensuring regular attendance, and actively engaging in discussions with tutors and the tutoring centre to facilitate their child’s academic progress.
As a parent or guardian, be a responsible visitor and participant in our tutoring centre. Respect the policies, guidelines, and schedules established by the centre. Demonstrate punctuality when dropping off and picking up your child. Follow any specific procedures for entering and exiting the premises. By being responsible and considerate, we contribute to our tutoring business's smooth and efficient operation.
We understand that occasionally you would like to check on your child's progress. This can only occur during your child's lesson. We recommend that you speak to your child's tutor either at the start of their scheduled lesson or come in 10 minutes prior to the end of their lesson. If your child attends a group session, we will notify you if there are any issues in their learning. We do not provide end-of-term reports. If you would like a formal report, this will incur an extra fee and must be arranged through our admin email.
Address any concerns or complaints in a constructive and productive manner. Engage in direct communication with the relevant tutor - within the time of the student's lesson or email admin directly. Express your concerns respectfully, listen to the other party's perspective, and work together to find a resolution.
Breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in appropriate consequences, such as verbal or written warnings, temporary suspension from tutoring services, or termination of services. The severity of the breach and its impact on others will determine the specific consequences. Upholding the code ensures a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.
By wholeheartedly adhering to this Parent Code of Conduct, you contribute to the success and positive atmosphere of our tutoring community. We appreciate your commitment to creating a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential.
